Emerging masterplan

The scheme forms part of a comprehensive regeneration strategy and covers Northwich Market – which will relocate to Barons Quay later in the year; Weaver Square shopping precinct, Apple Market Place, the Northwich Information Centre and the Victoria and Market car parks.

The plans will replace buildings at the end of their life and introduce a new residential neighbourhood while enhancing the town’s character and vitality. The masterplan has been carefully developed to respect the historic scale and architectural layout of the town centre, with a strong emphasis on walkable, human-scale streets and a clear sense of place. The new neighbourhood will boost footfall to businesses in the town centre.

The emerging masterplan includes:

  • A new residential community of around 200 high-quality homes, including affordable housing provision
  • Improved public realm with new public spaces such as flexible event spaces, creating welcoming areas for the community to use and enjoy
  • Supporting infrastructure with the potential for a new bus hub improving accessibility and connectivity for the development and wider town centre.
